Staying clean

Well, sorry for the lack of posting recently. Out sick thanks to a fun antibiotic resistant bacteria. In honor of that here are some tips to staying clean:

A Germ-Zapper's Guide to Clean (from the Washington Post

hat tip to Doug Rusch for pointing this out and giving me something to do other than worry about bacterial infections)

  1. Don't use sponges for routine kitchen cleaning. They stay wet for a long time so they provide ideal environments for biofilm growth, which is why they so readily get gross. Cleaning them is problematic. Instead use dishcloths, hang them to dry between uses, and throw them in the wash often.

The rest of the Post's advice seems seriously paranoid. Disinfect your purse every few days! Spray your shoes with Lysol! Seal your pillow!

In the immortal words of Jim Watson "Shit, you might as well worry about getting licked by a dog!"
