For example Ashlee Earl discussed popgenomics for B. subtilis, multiple people discussed plant population or ecological genomics, Peg Riley discussed popgenomics for E. coli, etc.Jonathan Eisenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07953790938128734305noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10781944.post-62769792387231957412009-04-04T13:11:00.000-07:002009-04-04T13:11:00.000-07:00any more details on 2. I think there is no simple way to do it with next gen sequencing unless you do many many many tagged PCR primers and then you use different pairs for each organism --- then you pool together all the PCR products and sequence in a run and deconvolute the tags. Maybe we should try it?Jonathan Eisenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07953790938128734305noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10781944.post-49938116906312341522009-03-31T07:42:00.000-07:002009-03-31T07:42:00.000-07:00Good stuff. It seems like a major impediment to doing population and ecological genomics has been that most sequencing technologies are designed to sequence lots of material from a single organism (or a pooled sample), did anybody talk about improved methods for obtaining homologous sequence data across a suite of related individuals or populations? Wouldn't it be nice if next generation sequencing could be used to build phylogenetic datasets (in a more efficient manner than just independently generating EST data for numerous organisms)?Glorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17707197225963721646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10781944.post-17746531333994948492009-03-30T05:15:00.000-07:002009-03-30T05:15:00.000-07:00Thank you very much for the resume, and the previo...Thank you very much for the resume, and the previous posts / friendfeed links.

I have found your post throught scintilla, from nature network.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10781944.post-39701574441400173942009-03-28T14:38:00.000-07:002009-03-28T14:38:00.000-07:00the live feed was fun and kept all of us following...the live feed was fun and kept all of us following the talks ... and I hope it is useful in some ways ... but even I had a hard time going back over it ... so I wanted to get some thoughts down about the big pictureJonathan Eisenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07953790938128734305noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10781944.post-58217754068293469512009-03-28T10:26:00.000-07:002009-03-28T10:26:00.000-07:00Thanks very much for taking the time to distill th...Thanks very much for taking the time to distill the important points of the meeting. I skimmed the live blogging thread on FriendFeed from time to time; this is precisely what I had hoped would come about to summarize that thread. Much appreciated.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01078483442220289712noreply@blogger.com
