Email exchanges between Robin Gutell and Carl Woese

I had posted emails here between Carl Woese and Robin Gutell (with Robin's permission).  However, in retrospect I feel uncomfortable posting private emails of Carl Woese's here as he is not around to give permission.  So I have removed them.  Apologies to all who may have felt uncomfortable about the posting and to those who wish it would remain public.  But I just do not feel comfortable with this anymore.

  1. I think it was the right decision, as a regular but silent reader, I kept mulling over the ethical considerations for several days.
In my opinion the actual importance of a private correspondence is how the receiver of a letter interprets the intended message, not the actual text. In that respect I think a subjective account of a correspondence by a receiver would be much more interesting, more ethical and in the long run provide even more insight into the fascinating story of the late Carl Woese in context with his contemporary colegues.

    1. Thanks. That sounds like a much better approach.
