But neither of these would be new or change evo theory. If they think they found a protein that interacts with it's own genes, they sure aren't clear about it...Matt DiLeohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08602997050973123349noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10781944.post-49650937851844631092008-11-13T13:24:00.000-08:002008-11-13T13:24:00.000-08:00I saw this release and was really confused too. So I tracked down the paper that they pulled this out of (Mutagenic Evidence for the Optimal Control of Evolutionary Dynamics, Chakrabarti et al., 2008) and couldn't understand how it supports these claims. It may be because I don't know optimal control theory and the paper is written from a very physics perspective, but I suspect that these claims are really unsupported extrapolation.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10781944.post-90445922030401662912008-11-13T07:46:00.000-08:002008-11-13T07:46:00.000-08:00thanks ryannot sure why those did not show up when...thanks ryan

not sure why those did not show up when I tried to search for people writing about thisJonathan Eisenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07953790938128734305noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10781944.post-48540414799161364582008-11-13T04:06:00.000-08:002008-11-13T04:06:00.000-08:00A frustrating press release (or, adaptation is not...A frustrating press release (or, adaptation is not random). (Genomicron)

Prediction: self-promoting hype meets interdisciplinary ignorance (Pharyngula)T Ryan Gregoryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17028390880937952573noreply@blogger.com
